Dr Fiona MacKillop B.D.S(Glas), M.ScSpecialist in Periodontology
Fiona joined Susan Tanner at the multi-disciplinary Dawood and Tanner Specialist Dental Practice in 2001.
Fiona and Susan have forged a close working relationship. Through this and their on going passion and commitment to the growing role of women in the implant dentistry, they hoped they could offer women a mentoring program, which would give them further education and support.
Fiona qualified from Glasgow University and then gained a Masters Degree from Guy’s Hospital in Periodontology. After relocating to New York for a 2-year period, Fiona accepted a post as Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgical Sciences (Periodontics) at New York University. Here she developed a strong interest in regenerative techniques in the periodontal and implant aspect of treatment.
On her return to the UK, Fiona continued working for a period, at Guys’ Hospital as an Honorary Clinical Demonstrator in the Department of Periodontology. She continues to teach and lecture.
As the periodontal lead in the multi-disciplinary, Dawood and Tanner Practice, Fiona enjoys the team approach to working with the therapists, hygienists and other disciplines and specialists. She maintains close links to hygienists out with the practice, once patients have been returned for maintenance.
As with many working women these days, Fiona manages to juggle a busy work schedule with a fairly hectic family life.
